Founded in 1977 at the Château de Montebello in Metz, the Musée de la Toile de Jouy has been housed at the Château de l’Églantine since 1991, the Musée de la Toile de Jouy pays tribute to Oberkampf, one of the greatest entrepreneurs of his time, and commemorates his remarkable industrial adventure. A visit to the permanent collections invites you to discover the history of the Oberkampf factory, printing techniques and the many uses of Toile de Jouy, notably in costume and furnishings from the 18th to the 21st century.
You will also be charmed by the Maison Léon Blum, a 17th-century farmhouse in Clos des Metz, where the leader of the Front Populaire spent the last years of his life with his wife (known as Janot), from his return from deportation to Buchenwald until his death on 30 March 1950, at the age of 78.
