Diderot en plein cœur is a philosophical, humanist and resolutely optimistic comedy, brought to life by Charlotte Saliou and Aurélien Cavaud's dynamic, light-hearted adaptation.
Through the amorous adventures of the iconic Jacques le Fataliste, Jacques and Madame engage in exchanges that are as funny as they are profound, sometimes mischievous, sometimes wise, but always full of astonishing modernity. Their conversation is interwoven with other great works by Diderot: Le Neveu de Rameau, Salon, the Encyclopédie and many others, revealing a vibrant and abundant body of thought that questions the meaning of freedom, love and humanity.
Enriched with laughter and moments of reflection, the play embodies the spirit of Diderot: a celebration of curiosity, critical thinking and individual intelligence.
The motto ‘Sapere aude’ - ‘Have the courage to use your own intelligence! - resonates throughout this show, offering each spectator a new insight into the legacy of one of the greatest thinkers of the 18th century.
It's 1 hour 10 minutes of funny, intelligent and necessary theatre that highlights Diderot's relevance to our times!
