In February 1704, after many years of loyal service to the Sainte-Chapelle, Marc-Antoine Charpentier died, leaving behind him a considerable body of work, recognised today as one of the most incredible creations of French art.
Two of them, André Campra and Nicolas Bernier in particular, were particularly inspired by him, even succeeding him after his death: the former in the service of the Jesuits on rue Saint Antoine, the latter as Master of Music at the Sainte-Chapelle. This programme brings together three major artists who rank among the great creators in the service of sacred music at the heart of the Grand Siècle.
