Created in 1977, the Toile de Jouy museum, located in the Château de l’Eglantine, revives the memories of the famous Manufacture de Jouy founded in 1760 by the entrepreneur and printer Oberkampf.
The museum presents the production of the old printed canvas factory founded in Jouy-en-Josas by Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf (1738-1815). Discover the history of one of the largest companies of the Ancien Régime and the Empire as well as the charm of printed cotton through Oberkampf's souvenirs, hangings, printed canvases and many costumes. Housed since 1991 in the Château de l'Églantine (a 19th century stone residence to which a contemporary structure has been added), the museum opens onto a landscaped garden, representing the canvases spread out on the meadows. Accompanied by a speaker, you will discover how horsehair is used as a textile, artisanal and artistic fiber.

For these horse racing games, young and old are invited to participate in the different events offered by the Musée de la Toile de Jouy. On the program: games of little horses, knockdown, hobby-horsing race, puzzle, memory ... You can even create and customize your pawn to play the game of little horses! Participate in all the events and get your official diploma!
