The Palais du Roi de Rome is located in the centre of Rambouillet. It hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
Built in 1784 by command of Louis XVI, the Palais du Roi de Rome was rebuilt and transformed by Napoleon I in 1812 to serve as the palace of his son, the King of Rome.
The Palace is now home to the City of Art and History Centre, where you will find a model of the monument in its original state, and some of the portraits held in the municipal collections.
In addition, a variety of temporary exhibitions are regularly held on the 1st floor of the building. During the school holidays, activities and workshops are organised for children.
There is also a charming little garden at the back of the Palais, an unexpected visit right in the heart of Rambouillet town centre.
