A place at the crossroads of heritage culture and new technologies, the Micro-Folie of Saint-Germain-en-Laye is installed in the Rotondes. This cultural facility is intended for all audiences.
PLEASE NOTE: exceptional closure on Saturdays March 14 and 21.
This place has four spaces:
- A digital museum offering education, by discovering, via a giant screen in interactivity with tablets, 1000 artistic masterpieces. These tablets, synchronized with the big screen, offer additional content explaining the works;
- Two armchairs with virtual reality headsets to immerse yourself in 360° in short films offered by the Franco-German channel Arte;
- A workshop for the manufacture of computer-assisted objects, called FabLab. There are two 3D printers, a digital embroiderer and a digital cutter;
- A place of conviviality called Le café Pixel.
Who imagined the Micro-Folie ?
Here again, we can speak of a crossroads since local and national initiatives and skills intersect. La Micro-Folie is piloted by the City, which presented the project to the City Council on May 23, 2019 for the signing of membership in the micro-folie network.
It received funding from the Yvelines Departmental Council as part of the “Merged Commune” grant. It is supported by the Ministry of Culture and included in its “Culture near you” plan. This action plan aims to lead “works and artists on the roads of France”.
Openings:
- The digital museum is open for free and open access on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. In the digital museum, classes are hosted free of charge and by appointment.
- The FabLab is open free of charge but by reservation and according to a workshop schedule (accessible via the agenda at www.saintgermainenlaye.fr). The workshop for the manufacture of computer-aided objects is exclusively open during the workshops.
