The property was acquired in 1783 by Louis XVI, who gave it to his sister, Madame Elisabeth.

The estate was created in the second half of the 18th century for the Prince and Princess of Rohan-Guéméné. The estate includes an English park open to the public, with a grotto and groves.

The park was designed by the architect Alexandre Louis Étable de La Brière, at the request of the Guéméné-Conti family. The 8-hectare park was made up of groves, winding paths and a river fed by the Montbauron reservoirs. Le Monnier, Louis XVI's physician and botanist, assembled a collection of rare plants here. A vegetable garden, orangery and dairy completed the estate.

In 1783, the property was acquired by Louis XVI, who gave it to his sister, Madame Elisabeth. Remodelled in a romantic English style in the 19th century, the park has retained its grotto, copses and perspectives.
