Pick-your-own gets under way in the Yvelines!
Every spring it's the same ritual for pick-your-own fans: they count the days until their favourite farm reopens. If, like them, you want to rediscover your picking instincts, fill large baskets with fresh, tasty fruit and vegetables, and spend some quality time outdoors, this list will soon be your new best ally.
Pick-your-own at Fermes de Gally in Saint-Cyr-l’Ecole and Sartrouville
A member of the “Chapeau de paille” network, the 60 hectares of market garden, horticultural and arboricultural production are cultivated according to the principles of sustainable agriculture. Planted in February, the first vegetables are harvested in March-April, starting with leeks, lettuces and herbs.
Don’t miss: the local produce store to complete your shopping and the cosy Café Gally, where you can relax after a hard day’s work
The little extras: great walks before or after harvesting, as the Domaine de Gally is adjacent to the Parc de Versailles, and a visit to the educational farm, a must for a good time with the kids.

Viltain farm in Jouy-en-Josas
A member of the “Chapeau de paille” network, the farm advocates eco-friendly agriculture that is sure to appeal to discerning consumers. From April onwards, pickers can choose from a wide range of seasonal flowers, vegetables and fruit on a 50-hectare site (=> find out more about the harvest calendar).
The pick-your-own is open from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12.30pm.
Don’t miss: the farmer’s market, a store selling local produce where it’s best to come on an empty stomach, as everything is delicious, especially the yoghurts produced on site!
Bonus: a visit to the educational farm with its Prime Holstein cows, calves and cow carousel (rotary milking parlour).
La Ferme de Viltain, Chemin de Viltain, 78350 Jouy-en-Josas
Pick-your-own at la ferme du Logis in Jumeauville
Initially focused on cereal farming, these pioneers of pick-your-own in the Yvelines introduced a pick-your-own site where from April onwards, pickers find great produce including the delicious strawberries from the Logis farm. Today, the whole family is committed to a sustainable development approach where nothing is thrown away, everything is useful and everyone benefits, from the crops to the chickens!
Don’t miss: farm produce, succulent poultry, homemade fruit jellies and mouth-watering homemade sorbets.
Bonus: the Halles de la ferme is open every week to local producers.
