To take in the sights, head for these free open-air viewpoints, day and night. A selection of the best viewpoints in the Yvelines for incredible panoramic views of the Yvelines!

You’ll have to climb a bit to reach these viewpoints, but the exceptional scenery makes it well worth the climb!

Château de la Madeleine in Chevreuse

A lovely view of the Yvette valley awaits you at the foot of Château de la Madeleine, which overlooks the commune of Chevreuse.

View of the Seine at Gommecourt

Attention cyclists! To see the Seine from above, leave its banks and climb to the heights of Gommecourt. Your eyes (and calves!) will thank you!

Elancourt hill

Guaranteed 360° panoramic view of the highest point in the Yvelines and the Paris Region! Also known as colline de la Revanche (Revenge Hill), this 231-metre-high hilltop offers a breathtaking view of the Meudon forest, the Etang de Saint-Quentin and the town of Elancourt. When the sky is clear, you can even see the La Défense district, the Eiffel Tower and the Tour Montparnasse. It’s up to you to choose where to rest your gaze!

Belvedere of Notre-Dame de la Mer church

Another remarkable viewpoint over the Seine Valley is the 10th-century church of Notre-Dame de la Mer, painted by Impressionist painter Claude Monet in 1893.

The viewpoint at Bois d’Arcy nature reserve

To disconnect from the city for a while, this wooden belvedere allows you to climb to a height of 12 metres for a breathtaking view. Located on the Bois d’Arcy landscaped canal, the site offers a beautiful natural interlude just a stone’s throw from the city.

Panorama of Mantes-la-Jolie from Limay

It’s a must-see to get a bird’s eye view of the urban area and the loops of the Seine. Facing west, this spot is perfect for watching a summer sunset.

The Sablière viewpoint in Viroflay

The historic starting point for the Cross de la Sablière race, this Viroflay clearing is a peaceful place to watch the sun set. In the middle of the forest, overlooking Versailles and sitting on a bench: a moment of relaxation guaranteed!

Kiosk at the Chatillon belvedere in Rosny-sur-Seine

You’ll have to scramble for a while to reach this superb mosaic kiosk dating from the 1900 Universal Exhibition, now nestled in the Rosny forest. From up there, you’ll have a commanding view of the region, including the Collegiate Church of Mantes-la-Jolie and the Méricourt dam. An orientation table is available next to the kiosk to help you get your bearings in the landscape.

Neauphle-le-Château viewpoint

This spot is ideal for a stop-off with a view of Neauphle-le-Château and its church. It is close to the GR22, which starts in Paris and traverses the Yvelines.

The balcony of the Chevreuse Valley! Immerse yourself in this treetop ocean of greenery. The beauty of this landscape in the Rochefort forest is breathtaking.

Saint-Germain-en-Laye Terrace

Head for the 2.5 km-long terrace of the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye on the edge of the Saint-Germain forest. Perched 80 metres above the Seine, it offers a panoramic view of the agricultural plain of Montesson and the skyline of La Défense in the distance. A visitor area renowned throughout the Paris Region, where concerts, events, tours and walks are regularly organised. An orientation table will help you spot the main landscape and architectural features of the panorama.

Anne of Brittany’s Tower in Montfort l’Amaury

Located high above Montfort l’Amaury, the Anne of Brittany Tower offers one of the finest panoramic views in the Yvelines region.

From the top of the Montfort tower…you can feel that history is very much present. It overlooks the village and the surrounding landscape.

A delighted visitor

The Plateau de Saclay, for aviation enthusiasts

It’s not the most glamorous spot, but it has the merit of being flat and offering a 360° panorama of the sky. On the outskirts of Toussus-le-Noble airfield, plane-spotters can watch planes land against a backdrop of sometimes spectacular skies with beautiful colour gradations.
