Peaceful Yvelines
Véloroutes, greenways and cycle paths in the Yvelines
Would you like to take to the roads of the Yvelines by bike, on foot, in a wheelchair, on a handbike or on horseback to discover its varied landscapes? Whatever your age, with family or friends, cycle routes and greenways are an excellent way to discover nature in an ecological and sustainable way.
“Véloroutes” greenways
Launched in 1998 and revised in 2009, the Véloroutes-Voies Vertes (greenways) are designed to enhance the value of natural areas using environmentally-friendly means of transport. Bicycle paths, signposted trails and roller paths have been laid out and are accessible to all, especially to people with reduced mobility, so that everyone, without exception, can enjoy nature to the full!
The Véloroutes greenways are the ideal way to recharge your batteries and enjoy the natural heritage of the Yvelines in an original, environmentally-friendly and free way.
But what’s the difference?
Well, Véloroutes greenways are reserved for non-motorised vehicles and are harmoniously integrated into the landscape. They can be located in rural or urban areas, giving them different characteristics in relation to their surroundings, and always with the aim of protecting the environment around them.
Cycle routes, on the other hand, are designed exclusively for touring cyclists: a network has been in place since the 1980s. These are safe, signposted, medium and long-distance cycle routes. The route is pleasant and, wherever possible, pristine.
